Re: Teaching positions in Art in Ohio
Posted by SC on 10/03/07

Im a Science teacher who couldn't find a job in Ohio. I tried. There just weren't that many openings that weren't
filled by people who either student taught there or by people who were rifted. I have at least 20 people in my
teacher ed program who are Science and/or Math who didn't find jobs. Is it harder to find a job in art? Sure, but
please don't make it sound like its a walk in the park to get a job in Science or Math either. People come here
to support each other and get advice. I just think that degrading someone's passion isn't helpful. What do you
tell your students who want to grow up and be something other than engineers or mathematicians? I just think
there is a better way you could have approached the situation.
But I agree, this whole conversation should just be dropped!
