Re: Adding length to the school day and days taught

Sandy Garrett is the State Superintendant of Education. She wants to add more working hours to our day and days to our year. I don't think this needs to be done, instead, administrators and principals need to better organize the time we already have. My students spend more than half of their school time in pull outs making instruction haphazard and difficult. They go to P.E., art, computers, music, library, Indian class, Spanish class, Boy and Girl Scouts, recess, etc. This leaves very little authentic instruction time. So much valuable time is wasted. Sandy needs to spend some real time in some our schools an see what is really going on.
