    I was in California. What I did to make sure I knew what could
    happen to me if I wanted to quit (boy did I ever want to) was to
    call the California Department of Education or the California
    Credentialing office. Sorry, I don't remember which one I called
    now. But you should be able to find the right office to call in
    Oklahoma (if that is where your state education main offices are).
    Ask them what will happen if you quit. Then talk to your principal
    if you have to. Sometimes the principal or district will agree to
    release you from your contract. But, of course, get it in writing.
    Otherwise, you could get F'd by them later.

    I'm sorry. Are things bad? My teaching job was so bad that year I
    have refused to teach since then.
