    Post: considering a move

    Posted by MrsO on 9/21/08

I am a teacher in CA. This is currently my 5th year
teaching. I have a BS in Math Education and I taught math
for 4 years before the governor decided to make his
education cuts and I was one of many teachers laid off this
past school year. I was 9 months pregnant at the end of the
school year so when they offered me a position at the
court/alternative education school, I took it to avoid
having to find a new job and move. Now I have family near
Tulsa and they are working on convincing us to move out
there. My question is this, what do you think the
likelihood of finding a math teaching job out there is? My
husband is in construction and I've also tried to find
information about construction salaries and jobs out there
and can't find much. I know the pay is lower for teachers
but it's within the range of easily acceptable since the
cost of living is much lower than out here too. If you have
any advice or information I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
