Oregon is paying the price for its shortsightedness WRT
education. I have never seen anything quite as bad as what
is going on right now. If there are districts doing any
hiring at all (and there are many who are laying off people
or not filling vacant positions), they are doing a lot less
of it.

I took a look at the COSA job site (which represents only a
small sample of what is going on in terms of teacher demand),
and the site has only about a third of the positions it had
at this time last year. That gives one an indication of just
how bad the situation is in Oregon right now.

It's very frustrating for a person who wants to move back to
the state.
