As soon as you are able apply for your RI certification. Districts
may look at someone with cert pending but will bypass someone who
has not yet applied. The state certification website will give you
an idea of how long it will take them to process your application
for certification. Take them at their word and do not expect it to
arrive sooner.
As for pay, each district is different. Some have their contracts
on their sites if your look there. Realize however that many
districts are in the process of renegotiating their contracts and
the actual salary many be lower. That's right lower. Many teachers
have given back salary in an effort to save jobs.
