Get your facts straight sir before you start > going off on a tangent. And another thing, children and adults are > treated differently, so I wouldn't go around comparing things people > say about adults to children. > I would like to say that I have a Bachelors Degree in English from the University of Georgia and I understand this person's situation. Because I do not have PhD., I cannot get a job teaching in a college. They will not hire you to be a professor if you do not have at least a PhD and even then they will start you out at part time hours which could only be 20 hours a week. My degree is also not in English Education and I am not certified so therefore I cannot teach high school and I was told that I would have to go back to college 2 more years just to get certified. There is no way possible a person could afford this without a really good paying job. So you see it is possible for someone to have to go on welfare or section 8 even though they are educated. It is a myth for you to think that just because a person has a degree they will get a really wonderful, high paying job. This is certainly not true. At almost every job that I have applied for, I constantly have been told that I was over educated and over qualified to do regular entry level jobs. A lot of company's value experience over education, especially if you live in a rural area. So do not think that just because a person has a degree that they have more opportunities for better jobs. Because that is far from the truth. It also depends on what your degree is in. For example, If you got halfway through medical school and you almost have an MD, but because of finances you were unable to finish. Could you imagine someone that was almost a Physician applying for a job at Burger King. What kind of response do you think they will get? So before you judge someone you need to consider what type of situation they are in. I by the way have had to apply for welfare because the rural area in which I live unfortunately, does not have a lot of job opportunities for educated people with degrees. I did work for a large company and in 3 months I was laid off due to computers replacing the job I was doing. A Master's degree means nothing if there are no jobs available at the time. Welfare and Section 8 is not just for the disabled and uneducated. Something else you should know about section 8 is that it is not welfare. A family of 3 can get section 8 even if they make $50,000 a year. It goes by your income, the more you make the higher your payment, the less you make the less your payment will be. Until you do some research you should really not judge other people and you also need to get your facts straight. You should also learn what section 8 really is before you make false accusations. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DO NOT KNOW, SECTION 8 IS NOT PUBLIC HOUSING. Research it for yourselves and you will see. It is possible for educated people to get in bad situations. They are not exempt from it. > > > > > On 6/30/07, William Rogers wrote: >> On 6/25/07, get off the welfare wrote: >>> unless your disbaled or have a bunch of kids, get off the >>> welfare.
