I am very unsure about what Obama will do. I do not think he
has a clue about alot of things, we, regular people, deal
with.
Of course, I am old, with much teaching experience which
either makes me "out of touch" or better than most. The NCLB,
has certainly proven to be a failure. Not because it was a
bad idea but because the funds and the personel needed to
really work this program were not there.
Because I am from a diffferent generation when schools were
smaller and discipline was taken seriously by both parents
and teachers, I may have a very different viewpoint than you
or Obama. I hope he has appointed the right person to follow
through with this challange until "they get it right". Ego
gets in the way so many times.I think he has a giant ego!
I must add that from the beginning there was something about
Obama I did not trust. I am the daughter of a Civil Rights
Lawyer and was raised to believe in equality for all. My
sister was active in the sit-ins in NC. I was taught to
never, never discriminate, so it was extremely difficult to
feel this unease when it came to Obama. Lately I am more
convinced that there is something we do not know about him
and have felt he will climb on and tramp on anyone to get his
way. I hope he proves me wrong because we must have someone
to start this country on te road to recovery.
I worked in Summervile in the early '80's as the exec. dir.
of the ARC. I really loved that little town but my wonderful
husband was out to sea and so that made me sad.
