After living most of my life in the midwest, there was a lot of
adjustment. The landscape is beautiful and the winters are pretty
mild by comparison. The closer you are to DC the worse the traffic
is and it is bad. If you like city life then you don't want to
venture too far from DC because you are in ruralsville and there
isn't much to do. The cost of living in the metro area is high,
much like most major cities.

The area is more recession resistant than other areas so there are
jobs available in teaching, government and private industry
