I moved to Spokane four years ago from California. I had lots
of public school experience in CA and took a position at a
private school for 25% less than public schools pay. Even at
the low pay many people applied for the position. I am very
happy and have not gone the public school route but I know
hundreds apply for every position. There are several
universities here and they turn out a large number of teachers.
People that I know that have been hired start out subbing, with
the hope of eventually getting hired. I don't want to
discourage you but be prepared for a long wait for a position.
