Re: Teachers, advocate for fair treatment of substitutes![]()

I forgot to note that this same Principal used a complaint
regarding a somewhat out-of-control class and refused to give
me specifics but I believe it came from the classes where the
teacher left no meaningful work, outdated and previously seen
videos, etc. Had I known this teacher left such nonsense for
substitutes I would have refused the call.
As I wrote earlier this Principal never had contact with me
during this several week assignment; granted the death of
this teacher required the school to go into crisis mode but
I'd have thought even an introduction and a possible "how are
things going" would be possible. The work group was terrific
but they had their plates full and I believe I gave many
hours and lots of support to the students and these staff
during this tragic period and got nothing in return.
We substitutes generally enjoy working with kids but we have
bills to pay, too. When put into any longer term situation
where things are a mess don't we at least deserve some
recognition and pats on the back since we know we'll get no
extra pay?
