Don't bet on it. Districts will throw teachers to the wolves
in a heartbeat if it means getting out of the way of a big
lawsuit. I actually was able to secure favorable testimony
from a teacher against the district after they distanced
themselves from the teachers actions in a preliminary hearing.
The district literally left the teacher holding the bag. The
teacher didn't like being hung out to dry, and I didn't blame
them.

Read your association benefits a little more carefully. They
won't pay the legal tab for defending a teacher who is at
fault.

It's much easier to go after a district for wrongful
termination than to try and beat a federal civil rights
lawsuit. Because if you are sued for this and lose, the
district will likely send you packing anyway.
