For middle school math it would be pretty hard, not as
difficult as English or social studies, but middle school
math isn't a very difficult subject to teach. There are a
lot of 4-8 generalists that teach middle school math.
You would have a very difficult time getting hired in
Houston, you would likely have to know someone or
have friends in the district. Your best bet to stay in
Houston is with a charter, otherwise you need to be
open to taking a job anywhere, often in a rural area.
Everyone wants to teach in Austin, Dallas, San
Antonio, and Houston.
If you get any interest it's going to be in August and
it's very likely going to be in a rural district. The other
option is you can pay the full cost of the program and
do clinical teaching instead of an internship, you will
get certified faster, and be done after 3 months
instead of a year.
