    VSA arts of Texas, a member of the international network of
    VSA arts, an affiliate of The John F. Kennedy Center for
    the Performing Arts, is offering the following workshops
    for Teachers, Teaching Artists, and Parents:

    START WITH THE ARTS For: Artists, Teachers, Parents of ages
    3-8 years/grades PK-3. July 24 & 25, 2006 Monday and
    Tuesday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm AGE Building, 3710 Cedar St. in
    Central Austin


    This two-full-day, hands-on workshop shows creative ways to
    integrate the arts into early childhood learning in
    inclusive settings. Explore ways to activate a wide variety
    of quality children's literature for diverse learning
    styles. Participants are encouraged to rediscover their own
    creativity and learn practical tools for sharing the joy of
    visual art, music, dance/movement, and drama with all
    children, including those with disabilities. Material is
    fully aligned to the TEKS in all subject areas for grades K
    - 3, as well as the Prekindergarten Guidelines. Continuing
    Professional Education (CPE) credits for Texas Teachers is
    available. Cost is $179 and includes a 500 page printed

    POSITIVE BEGINNINGS For: Artists, Parents and Teachers
    August 15 & 17, 22 & 24, 2006 Tuesday and Thursday 6:00 pm
    – 9:00 pm AGE Building, 3710 Cedar St. in Central Austin

    Positive Behavior Supports is a popular method of
    addressing challenging behaviors, particularly in children
    with special needs. VSA arts of Texas Director of Arts
    Education Emily Cicchini will present a four-week intensive
    Positive Behavior Supports workshop, using Florida State
    University’s Positive Beginnings resource, supported by an
    initiative of the Texas Council on Developmental
    Disabilities and Texas Association of Child Care Resource
    and Referral Agencies (TACCRRA). This workshop is
    appropriate for anyone living with or working with children
    with challenging behavior.

    This four part workshop will cover several moduals of the
    Positive Beginnings curriculum (www.pbs.fsu.edu) in a
    hands-on, group workshop setting, and will also explore how
    the languages of the arts, including music, movement,
    drama, and visual art, might be included in the tool set
    for Positive Behavior Support interventions on a grassroots
    level. Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit for
    Texas Teachers is available. Cost is $125 and includes hand
