Recruit More Male Elem. Teachers? Who?
Sir or Ms. I gave up the teaching profession this month.........I am a primary/elementary teacher with California and now Florida teaching credentials. I found out that despite my attempt to go back to full time teaching after a career in surgical product sales, men are persona non grata. Elementary schools have few male classroom teachers because the districts and principals don't hire them.......its as simple as that. The school districts and principals consider every male candidate a potential child molester and not biologically suited to being with young children. The best I could ever do is summer school and substitute work......pay lower than Federal Poverty guideline wages. I even filed discrimination charges against the Poway USD of San Diego County. Poway's attorney said they did not agree with the finding against them and told the EEOC that it would do nothing to address themselves to the finding. The EEOC was silent...they invited me to hire an attorney and sue. The director of speciality staffing here in Pinellas County Schools west of Tampa told me two weeks ago that "don't you know that Elementary Schools have women teachers?" Enough said.
