Appetizing Adjectives Activity
Students will redesign a restaurant menu using adjectives to make the foods more appetizing.
1. What is a noun?
2. What are adjectives?
3. Brainstorm: Come up with adjectives that describe food items: heavenly, delightful, juicy, etc.
4. Let the students sort through the Menus. They will be creating their own restaurants and their own menus.
5. Let the students choose how they want to set up their restaurant menu's: one page, foldable, etc
Appetizing Adjectives Activity
RUBRICThe Menu must:
1. Have the name of the Restaurant
2. Restaurant Picture or Logo on the front of the Menu
3. Contact Information of the Restaurant: Example: Days Open, Hours Open, Telephone Number, etcYou must pick at least 8-10 foods to put on your menu! Remember: You cannot just say cheeseburger; you have to use at least one adjective to name the cheeseburger. You then need to use lots of descriptive words that briefly describe what the dish is.
Example:
Big Bubba's Junkyard Burger
This burger is only for the Big Boys. It has 3 beef patties, 2 American cheese Slices, Lettuce, Pickle, Tomato, and Mayo. Try it with French Fries and Baked Beans. It's great!
You can use foods that are: appetizers, breakfast foods, lunch foods, kid's foods, dinner foods, finger foods, beverages (NO ALCOHOL), desert foods, etc., I DO NOT CARE--Just Make MY MOUTH WATER! You can also cut out pictures of foods from the magazines to glue onto your menu.REMEMBER! BE CREATIVE AND HAVE FUN!
