Objective

Following the lesson on color, Kindergarteners will be able to hold a
crayon between the thumb and forefinger, sort objects according to size,
color, shape, or use and sing a variet of songs with 75% accuracy.

Rational

This lesson for young children will teach them listening skills, speaking
skills, creative thinking, and problem solving. They can use colors to
express ideas and feelings. They will also be learning colors to know that
safety symbols have special colors.

Lesson on Colors- Red

Time
Activity

4 Minutes
Introduce the color RED.
Ask anyone who thinks he or she is wearing RED to stand up.
Ask for students to name a few RED objects.

12 minutes
Have the children make paper stop signs.
Identify RED safety signs and explain them to the children.

10 minutes
Provide cranberries, cranberry juice and strawberry jello for a taste and
visual experience.
Allow the children, with proper supervision, to make RED Koolaid.

11 minutes
Tell the story of "Little Red Riding Hood"; provide flannel board figures for
children to retell the story.

3 minutes
Teach and sing the song "Bumping Up and Down in My Little Red Wagon"
