Objective: Familiarize students with historical events and provide base for research projects

Activity:
Listen to Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start The Fire" song two times, with students writing all the historical events they can find in the song. Students then pick one event to research and present at the appropriate time in the course or as a Final Project. (Lyrics are listed on the CD version)

Alternative: Discuss one event in the song for 5 minutes each day as a starter activity.
