Materials Required: alphabet card
Activity Time: 10-15 min
Concepts Taught: phonics , good sportsmanship

Choose your alphabet cards, you can either do phonics review or letter recongnition. I usually choose 5 or 6 cards. I choose a child, usually the helper of the day to stand in the middle. They show their card to everyone. The kids begin to walk around the child singing "Ring around the letter , What sound does it make?", (If it is a F they go ff ff ff ff) We sing it twice and when they are done, the person in the middle closes their eyes, points their finger and spins until I say stop. (I do stop for fairness) Depending on how many cards you choose and how many children you have, everyone may not get to be in the middle. This is a good lesson for my class this year because they will cry if they don't get as many turns as the other children. So it is a good lesson for them to know that good sportsmanship is important.
