#2478. "The Snowman"

Materials Required: video and/or the book, paper, pencil, crayons
Activity Time: 40 minute writing activity
Concepts Taught: using word wall words, punctuation, capital letters, creativity, imagination

1st day: Show video and discuss
2nd day: Read and discuss the book
3rd day: Hand out traced snowman on large white paper to each child. Have student add eyes, carrot nose, mouth, buttons, scarf and color the hat. Students cut out the snowman and on the back they write 3 other ideas of where they could take their snowman. On the board I write: "I will take my snowman to_________." Some students may need this sentence starter written on a sentence strip placed directly in front of them. Students then copy the sentence starter for each of the 3 sentences. Students read aloud their ideas during Author's Chair time.
