My Great Aunt Arizona- Four Blocks

Objective-Characterization and finding proof in story
Day One- Introduce Vocabulary with transparency
Before-Pass out Character chart. (Workbook p. ) In Three Ring circus(tape, with teacher, or with partner) read p. 116-121. Obviously the tape group will listen to all. When finished add proof to the character chart with sentences that show that from story.

After-On overhead make class chart and fill in from groups.

Day Two-Objective-Determining Importance
Before-Discuss how we need to learn what is important in a story and what are details that the author put in to let us see the pictures more clearly. Read page one together. Say what fact is the most important from this page.
During- In pairs read p. 122-126. At end of every page the pair is to write the most important thing on the page together on the Arizona life cycle page.
After-Share the important facts.
