Materials Required: 2basketballs, basketball hoop, chalkboard or large paper, chalk or marker, spelling words
Activity Time: 30 minutes
Concepts Taught: Review spelling words

Children love this game. Divide students into two teams. Line them up on opposite sides of the basketball hoop.
and a sign each student on each team a number or letter.The instructor will then call out a spelling word and a number or letter. The students with that number or letter must run to the chalk board write the spelling word, pick up the basketball, dribble it to the basketball hoop, make one shot, run the basketball back to the spot they found it, and get back in line first. Two points will be given for the correct spelling of the spelling word, 2 points for a basket, and two points for being first back to their spot in the line. The team with the most points at the end of the allotted time wins the game. Treats can be given if desired to the winners but it's not really necessary. The children just love playing the game.
