Objective: Identify, compare and contrast levels of organization including cells, tissues, organs, organ systems and organisms.

The teacher will:
Ø Administer a pre-test comprised of information including the investigation of the structure and functions of living systems.
Ø Discuss the terms cells, tissues, organs, organ systems, and organisms.
Ø List examples of cells, tissues, organs, organ systems, and organisms.
Ø Distribute drumsticks (chicken) to students groups.

The students will complete the following activities:
ü Take a pre-test
ü Summarize the teacher's discussion of cells, tissues, organs, organ systems, and organisms in their notebooks.
ü Read and discuss pages 15-17 (Science Book).
ü Dissect a chicken drumstick with the thigh still attached.
ü Disassemble, sketch, and count the muscles of the drumstick.
ü Compose a one paragraph to one page essay describing why this information is important to know.

Homework: Using a bridge map, the students will analyze cells, tissues, organs, organ systems and organisms.
