Materials Required: A picture book of Abraham Lincoln by: David Adler, peanut butter, pretzels, Graham crackers
Activity Time: 30 minutes
Concepts Taught: Famous Americans- Abraham Lincoln

Open the lessson by introducing Abraham Lincoln, looking a picture of him, and finding his face on a penny. Brainstorm a list of things that the students already know about Abraham Lincoln. Read the book: A picture book of Abraham Lincoln by David Adler. After reading the book, have the students use the pretzels, peanut butter, and graham crackers to construct a model of Abraham Lincoln's log cabin. Put peanut butter on the end of each stick pretzel and stack them in a square. Place the graham crackers on top of the log cabin to make the roof. Explain to students that this is the type of house that Abraham Lincoln lived in a long time ago.
