Concept Card example
Riverview High School, Riverview, US
Materials Required: Index cards, markers, magazines (optional)
Activity Time: 45 mins
Concepts Taught: Vocabulary, Etymology, Part of Speech, Pronunciation

Give students a list of words from your content area or unit.

Give students index cards and markers (or magazines if you have them).

Instruct students on how to format each card (see example provided).

Give them about 45 minutes to work on this. If time allows, they can correct each other's cards.

Give them a writing prompt. Instruct the students to write an essay including some of the words from the concept cards.
