Materials Required: Bear Templates
Activity Time: 30 minutes
Concepts Taught: Match upper-case and lower-case letter

Circle Time
-Students share a sentence or two about their teddy bears
-Read the book Corduroy by Don Freeman
-Students relate to the story by telling a time they may have been lost
-Introduce Learning Centers to the children
Craft Center
Students paint, cut and add other decorations to the bear template (googly eyes, buttons and sequins or shapes as shown in the image). Bear templates and literacy cards found at:

Literacy Center
-Students will be matching upper-case letter teddy bear cards to lower-case teddy bears or for younger students the same cards (found in the link above).

Math Center
Students can be order their teddy bears according to size or similarities. Measurement could also be incorporated. The students could be rolling playdough snakes that they feel represents the size of their bear. After, they would hold the snake up to their bear and compare how close their estimation was.
