This may not be a frequently question asked question, but does DoDDS conduct drug tests? My current and former school district do not drug test, but I know other local school districts that do drug test. Considering that DoDDS is under the Department of Defense, I thought there may be a greater likelihood. Anyways, I was just wondering if testing positive for substances may disqualify you as a teacher even if the drugs may be legal in the host country e.g. Portugal.

HelpOthers The regulations state that even when legal in a host country, employees are not permitted to participate. This includes drugs and prostitutes. It also includes under-age drinking and smoking for our school students during school-sponsored trips (even when legal in the country).

Naraja No, but some schools does. Most of drugs will be out of your system in a few days, but similar to other drugs, they can be found in hair follicles up to 90 days after use. If you have any problems with it - https://addictionresource.com//drug-rehab/locator/.

RJ Been on DoDEA 8 years, never heard a mention of a drug test. That being said, if you are caught, you can say goodbye to your career. Recently a district office employee was caught drinking and driving by the base MPs. They sent him home.

Icanread As a federal employee, we do receive emails and there are commercials on AFN stating that we are not allowed to smoke pot, even if you are in a country or US state where it is legal. That said, there is no drug testing. If you receive a DUI, you will also probably be fired. DoDEA doesn't mess around with those either.
