1. how far after I start working will my insurance benefits kick in?
2. what has been everybody's experience with the 1st paycheck? Does everybody really have to wait the full 6 weeks before seeing their first check?

Oh wow.! Is that one of the plans of the BCBS?Am I right to assume that it will be BCBS Federal?

It is not BCBS. Our card for the Foreign Service Benedit plan says Aetna.

Blue Cross Blue Shield is one option. Foreign Service Benefit Plan (serviced through Aetna) is another option.

It would depend on which state your are living in and what plan you choose. This may not be exact but will give you a good idea:
