Last week Monday I had an interview. I am hoping to become a local hire at my spouse's current duty station. The interview went very well, and my current employer was contacted for a reference following my interview. My employer was left with the impression that I may be getting the job. I was surprised to learn they are looking to fill the position THIS year. I know I have fewer hoops to jump through as a local hire, but I'm still curious if this job will really "go through" this year. There are less than 2 months remaining! I'm currently employed as a teacher and am under contract off base, not with DoDEA. I am willing to break the contract for this opportunity, but I'm a little worried about the timeline. I want to give as much notice as possible but I also don't want to tell them I'll be leaving if all the clearances take a long time. Mrs.C I had my interview on April 9th, reference contacted on April 12th, application frozen on the 20th and an offer on the 24th. It felt MUCH longer than 2 weeks!

Hopeful The hiring freeze articles linked above are from a year ago- March 2017. There hasn't been a hiring freeze announced this Spring.

HelpOthers They may be waiting to readjust all the people already working in the district who have chosen to have a different position next year first then. I don't know why else they would say there is a hiring freeze.
