Hello all! I have been following this chat board closely as I recently had an interview for a DODEA nursing position! I was wondering if anyone had any advice/guidelines for nursing hiring, or if they could maybe ask any of the nurses they currently work with. It would be greatly appreciated!

HelpOthers To be honest, it seems that overseas, many of our school nurses are trained in hospital settings, but as local hires, they are hired before anyone that would need to receive transpiration and benefits. Cmc I was a local candidate for an overseas position. I have had an active application (on the qual list) and was not called to interview until this year. I was hoping this time, it was my time. Jobs are competitive and since my sponsor is no longer military I can no longer claim the spouse preference. C'est La Vie. It is not in the cards for me right ...See More

HelpOthers Cmc, apply to be a nurse sub at least. This may help in the long run.

Cmc I may do that in the future. I am currently the special needs coordinator so I'm going to stick with the permanent job for now. I was looking for a change (current situation: death by paperwork!) but jobs are super competitive here. Lots of nurses looking to work with not many positions to fill

JNurse Thank you both for responding to my post! I unfortunately was not selected for the position I applied for which was a heartbreaker, but I think I'm finally dusting myself off haha I was also contacted for an interview in Turkey, but would not be allowed to take my dependents with me, so therefore I am unable to interview for his position.
