So how long after you are qualified do you typically get put on refferal lists or get contacted for interviews?
haha Not to be overly flip, but days to never.

Many people wait years. Many people never get a referral and/or interview. Some people get movement on their application (and even interviews/offers) within months of being qualified.

IbeforeE The more I learn about the process the more I realize I need to open up my aperture and be patient. So I added stateside schools just today —— anyone know if it is easier to get placed stateside vs overseas?

HelpOthers @SLPnyc. I found it easier in my field to find a state-side position. Most already live in the local area, with few willing to move themselves to a new location. So, you are competing against a smaller pool of applicants.

IbeforeE @Mary - thank you for your detailed response and advise. So if you were in my position, would you just hold out for overseas position, being a Vet, or put in stateside options (with the ultimate goal being overseas schools?) PS are you a Vet as well?

HelpOthers I am not a Vet, which is why it did not hurt me to go the stateside route first. If you are a Vet, you may want to hold out, so you can use your Vet preference in the hiring process.
