What can anyone tell me about the DODEA ISS positions? I've heard that many of the people in the positions spend their time on things other than their job description because they tend to be short staffed. How true is this? Thoughts? I have an interview tomorrow and while the job sounds great on paper, I'm wondering how much of it I'll actually get to do. I know our ISS has been traveling this year because of being short staffed. Is the job as great as it sounds or should I just appreciate my current DODDS teaching job? Any feedback is welcome. Thanks!
**psych** IMO, There are several impediments that make the ISS positions less than desirable if you are already in a location that you like/can stand in DoDDS. I was offered a position and was rather shocked to find myself asked to work more days while not offered a commensurately higher step on the ISS salary schedule...meaning a daily/hourly cut in pay. haha Thanks. It doesn't appeal to me (but then again as a SPED teacher I've had many people/teachers tell me that they would never want to do what I do everyday).

I see it being a hard go in DoDEA. I don't know how it is where you are but my experience has been that in most cases/subject areas they are rarely around and are mostly known via a f...See More

IsItFriday? I agree with just about everything posted above. I have a slightly different spin which I don't think contradicts anything posted earlier.

People often take ISS positions as a stepping stone into Admin and beyond (Superintendent.) They are often people who are fleeing the classroom. They love education so much that they want to step out if...See More
