I'm certified in EC-6 and ESL and I currently teacher kindergarten but my application came back as unqualified for kindergarten...

I hoping to move and teach overseas with my children, I was stationed in Germany a few years ago and would like to travel aboard again. I know the DODEA is competitive and my certifications aren't really "high need" but I'm just applying and hoping for the best for now!

I did think it was strange that I'm considered unqualified for kindergarten, though.

B Also, haha, is there a chance that I won't get credit for ESL? I went through a training course however I don't have credit hours listed on a degree.

haha You can ask for an update anytime by selecting a new target job and clicking on re-evalation (as I recall). Yes, you are likely to have issues with ESL as well if you do not have the credits (or at least half of the required).

B haha, Ok so I'm confused. Will the 2 day of professional development credit hours count for ESL I took in my district?? I find it strange after all the money and time spent towards PD and additional certifications wouldn't qualify. Sorry for all the questions and thanks for the help!

haha PD will generally only count if there was some arrangement to get it to appear on an accredited college transcript and you received college credit for it.

Icanread You must have 24 credit hours in ESL to get DoDEA certification (and make sure you take the right courses). A 2-day PD won't work for DoDEA - you need college credits to get the certification. The same is true for teaching pre-k and kindergarten. If you have state certification in either of those, then you generally only need 12 credit hours. Here'...See More
