So I received a tentative offer for a position and I let my principal know about it. She was less than thrilled, which I completely understand it's hard to find someone in the middle of the year. She also mentioned there is a teacher shortage and if she can't find a replacement they won't except my resignation. So, do I go thru the process with paperwork and finger prints and wait to see if they can find someone?? What if they don't ? How might DODEA react?

Ron.e I am from Texas. First, the district can suspend your certification for one year, and it stays on your record. Having said that, it also depends on what you teach and your district. haha If it was for an overseas DoDEA position, I would say, darn the torpedoes and full speed ahead. Given that it's for a DoDEA Americas position you need to ask yourself how badly you want this opportunity. IsItFriday? Play nice, and smile. All the advice above is good and it pretty much amounts to the same thing. Take the SC position, assuming it's a nice step up.
