:S :D :S

These outages are quite annoying and coming fairly frequently these days.

So, we got this disappointing news over the weekend (purely coincidental timing, I'm sure). The transfer program is cancelled for this year. Allegedly they are going to come up with a new and improved version of the program, after program analysis of information gathered from an independent consulting firm and other sources but no fixed date on when that might happen.

I'm generally a pretty positive person but have to say that this was very disappointing. We knew that when they put out their own survey to the teachers with no input from the union that they were basically going to use it as cover for whatever they had already decided but I was still unpleasantly surprised by this.

The program was certainly not ideal but at least it was something and it would have been nice to continue to have some type of program in place while they came up with an alternative.

Icanread Thanks! Sometimes I'm fine and go with the flow. And other times I panic because I don't know what's going to happen next year :)

HopefulTeacher Wow! That's an interesting twist for this year. I wonder how that will affect teachers wanting to come into DODDS. Would it mean the same amount of new hires, or less or more?

haha Tough to say. Probably a wash, with maybe a few more stateside hires (depending on exactly how many excess teachers end up needing to be placed after positions in their local areas are filled).
