Hello,

I have been applying locally for about 5 months now in Japan. I sent a brief introduction letter and my resume to a number of locations, and I updated all of my certifications and my USA jobs/Dodea profiles.

Yesterday I got a call from a Japanese base, but no voicemail was left on my phone. I called back, but was told that someone from the base had called me, but there was no way for me to find out who it was, or no way for me to leave a message at the civilian center office.

Has this happened to anyone else searching for a local job position? Do school representatives typically give applicants/candidates calls directly?

This is a vague question, but does anyone have any insight into what this might have been?

Thank You so much

IsItFriday? There seems to be a missing piece of information.

What base called? You post seems to indicate that you know the name of the base.

So it's a simple matter to narrow down which school was interested in you. Call the school secretary/principal to confirm that it was actually them calling you for a referral.

DoDeaNewbie For teaching positions, you should be applying on EAS. Usajobs is just a courtesy posting, not an application. I am a local hire as well and phone calls came after emails. Check your spam folder.

SocialStudiesLivinginJapan I do know which base called, I just didn't want to list it on a public forum. I was considering calling the schools on that base, but was debating on whether that would be considered overly persistent. I also checked my spam folder, nothing in there but spam........

haha Nothing wrong with calling and at least talking to the secretaries to see if they have any idea what it would be about. Odd time for them to be recruiting secondary given most schools are having to excess at least a couple of teachers for next year (although I guess it could be for something for the rest of this school year).
