Hi- I just applied with DODEA yesterday, I am excited to see what could happen next. I have two questions, once you apply about how long does it take to get approval for your application? Also, I am a single mom with sole legal and physical custody, is it hard to get a job with two dependents? I have a 7 year old and a 13 year old. I have permission to move with them from the courts, so that is not the issue. I just wondered if there were any restrictions for having children when applying for a job. I have taught in California for 19 years and my girls and I are ready to do something different. Thanks!

educatormama I'm also a single mom with 2 little girls. There were no personal questions in any of my interviews and I did not bring up my children when I had the opportunity to ask questions, I kept it professional. I don't believe that it asks about family status in the application process either. I haven't landed a job yet, but am hopeful for the future. Goo...See More

HelpOthers There is a glitch in the system again. After you hit "comment" feel free to copy your comment then hit refresh. It should be there. If it is not there, try again. However, if you hit comment and wait for anything to change, you may not see it. If you you hit comment again, it will post again...

HelpOthers As other have stated, there is no reason for DoDEA to ask about your personal/family situation. Therefore, it should not affect an offer. However, you will need to have certain permissions to apply for passports or court order, etc., Also, if your children have special needs, not all areas are equipped to handle all levels of need.

HelpOthers Keep in mind that turning down an interview is not likely to harm any future chances of an interview request in other locations. However, turning down an offer, will freeze your application for the entire school-year. So, if you don't think the location will be good for your family, don't accept the invitation to interview.
