I ask because we have a trip planned mid October which costs several thousand $, and can't cancel for a refund....plus I want to go in the trip preferably anyways. Has anyone received a tentative offer around this time of year and then not made it to your destination until late October??? Can you ask HR for a certain leave date???

So I am at the beginning of the process. Is it safe to assume that my HR person will tell me next steps? So far, I have passport apps done and on boarding paperwork. @stacyslp I have a similar situation, in which I have a trip planned in Mid Aug and I'm unsure if I should cancel (will not get a refund). Hard to make these kinds of decisions.
@angela I have just started the HR process as well and have only done the passport and the on boarding paperwork. Waiting to hear from HR what I have to do next.

Next is your background check. HR has to request and then an email is sent from the security team.

The email is sent to you saying the background check has been requested from HR.

@Angela and @questionsallday, I've done onboarding paperwork, the e-quip, and watched a 2 hour antiterrorist video with questions/certificate as proof. Im getting the fingerprinting card today and then I'll mail it back since they wanted a hard copy and not Live scan. Nobody has mentioned passports or a physical yet for me or my family.
