Treatment of Teachers............

DoDEA Educators,

As 2019 draws to a close, having recently spoken to FEA president Brian Chance and provided an update to OFT president Linda Hogan, I would like to share the status of the Teacher Transfer Program.

As you may know, the Teacher Transfer Program was suspended prior to school year 2019/20. At the same time, I initiated a review of the program. We are now more than halfway through that review.

There were several reasons the Teacher Transfer Program was suspended; chief among those were concerns about the equity, efficiency and effectiveness of the program. I realize the importance of a transfer program to our educators, but I believe that it must achieve three important outcome objectives:

Icanread Super frustrating! Especially since it looks like I may be excessed for the 2nd year in a row. I don't understand why the union isn't suing for a breach of contract, especially for those teachers who were hired in the 90s and 2000s when they were promised a transfer round every year and it was used as a hiring incentive.

haha It's generally difficult/impossible to sue the federal gov't in most circumstances. The most they can do is file grievances, etc. and unfortunately the governing authorities/mediators are not particularly sympathetic to teachers/labor in general.

Icanread I wonder how many teachers will be retiring now with the recent news...
