This might be too specific, but hoping someone might have some insight. Italy seems to have strict employment laws that don't allow income from the US while employed in Italy with dodea. My questions is, would that also apply to income from rental homes located in the US? Specifically vacation rental property. From what I could find online, it seems to say income from US based corporations is not allowed, so I wasn't sure if rental income would fall into a different category.

Is Italy the exception, or do most locations have similar rules about income from the US while overseas?

Happy Teacher Totally fine. I owned a house in the states and rented it out while in Italy. People are not allowed to work on the economy, so spouses and dependents can't work unless it's on base. Islandgirl You are allowed to rent your property, don't read to much into "the rules" as they were written long ago. There are jobs for spouses and children. Mine worked as a para, USO, and kids were lifeguards and baggers at the commissary.
