I have finally saved enough money to go buy myself a new imac (cash) at the computer store. I think I have it picked out but forget the details but that's not my main question.

I want to buy an external hard drive because I always have so many photos and think that is what caused my 4 year old computer to crash. One day, I will try to get that fixed so a friend can use it. . . Any suggestions as to what kind? When I was at the Apple store in Portland, OR, they showed me a large number of external hard drives. . .

Also, should I get more memory added to computer or not? I am not getting the office program that adaprs Apple documents to PC documents YET. Maybe later. It doesn't come with the computer but is an add on.

Also , what is your opinion of the latest iMac flat screen desktop computer? The mouse is not connected to computer. . . kinda different. . .

Any other advice? Any suggestions for programs I should buy. I am retired now but still use ...See More
Paulie I used my old CD and installed Appleworks on my computers that didn't come with it any longer. Will it hurt to do it again on my latest computer? I love Appleworks for many things but especially for its photo editing Drawing and Painitng. No, but you may have to enable it to run under Rosetta as its PPC, not Intel, Native. Apple-Info there's a check box for Rosetta.
