The side slot DVD/CD player in my flat panel 2.1 GHz PowerPC G5 went out for the second time. I purchased a LG portable super multi drive (mac compatible) from Best Buy. I put a Belkin 4-port hub in the back of my computer... and the player worked great today.

I had to shut down the computer because P.G.&E. was conducting a test in the area of my school and shut down the power for 20 minutes. When this window of time began, my flat panel was already safely turned off.

When I restarted the computer, the DVD/CD played fine, but there was no sound coming out of the computer. I shut down again, removed the external player, restarted the computer and the sound was fine. So... when the player is attached, no sound is produced. Any advice as to the direction I should turn in now? Thank you so much for your help.
