Welcome to the Collaborative Learning Chatboard. This chatboard is for teachers to discuss Collaborative Learning/Cooperative Learning in the classroom - collaborative games, lesson plans, strategies and exercises for teaching collaborative learning.

Wikipedia defines collaborative learning as:

...an approach to organizing classroom activities into academic and social learning experiences. Students must work in groups to complete tasks collectively. Unlike individual learning, students learning cooperatively capitalize on one another's resources and skills (asking one another for information, evaluating one another's ideas, monitoring one another's work, etc.). Furthermore, the teacher's role changes from giving information to facilitating students' learning. Everyone succeeds when the group succeeds.

semarion Collaborative learning is a great tool especiall in the special education classroom. Taking a student from the place where they are academically to the place where they need to be by using the skills of the students themselves.
