Hello,

Just curious if there are any states that are in need of certified school counselors? I have my masters degree, but there are hundreds of applicants for every opening in Michigan. I have 6 years of experience in Florida, but I'd like to move elsewhere. I'm from Michigan, but the market is very saturated there. Are there any other states where school counselors are in demand? I've been told that a school counseling degree is valuable to have, but so far, my experience is that it's about as useless as a masters in liberal studies.

Thanks,

Mary, M.Ed.
L Smith MN is out! I am in the same boat you are. We have over 500 applicants per opening and extremely limited openings. Advice: Don't come to MN if you want any job in education! Most of the paraprofessionals are licensed teachers and the substituted have years of teaching under their belts (they were all cut).
