Dear Employment official, I am writing on behalf of a young lady from the Congo (Kinshasa-capital) Pauline. As U know there is a terrible civil war going on there. Pauline managed to escape & get to the United States. She was the victim of unspeakable abuses; only made more exceptional by the fact of the ongoing repetitiveness made them mundane. She had been kept in immigration jail until our church (First Reformed, Secaucus NJ) bonded her out & gave her housing in our parsonage. Now she must await a formal hearing. It would be very beneficial if we could find "work" for her here, further substantiating that she could support herself & would not become a "burden of the state." Fortunately she is a fluent French speaker & if we could "capitalize" on this skill & find her employment at a school here U would be truly redeeming an innocent person from possibly having to return to a truly terrible situation.
