This year our district is using the Houghton Mifflin Journeys Reading program. We are also using Saxon Phonics.

My question is for anyone that is currently using Journeys or has in the past. We are trying as a Kindergarten team to decide how to follow each program. In the past we have matched up our reading program with our letter of the week with Saxon. Although looking at Journeys they really do the letters differently. Should we start with Journeys and then leave the phonics portion up to Saxon?

Just curious how we will implement both this year.

We are working on pacing guides on Tuesday of this week.. eek... so any input anyone has would be greatly appreciated !
Anne We are using Houghton Mifflin Language and Literacy and Wilson's Fundations for phonics.

We use the sequence in Fundations (modified a bit so that we can teach some Handwriting Without Tears strategies). We also do Words Their Way sorting.

I'm thinking we will just use our phonics program and follow the other for reading instruction from the beginning. Seems to be too hard to match the letter order, as our first letter is L in Saxon & with Journeys it's l...See More

A Hubbell We just adopted Saxon to use with Journeys. I would love to hear how this worked out. Did you follow Saxons first and pull in from Journeys? Did you go the other way around?
