I've been teaching grades 3 & 4 for the last 17 years. I decided to mix things up and teach full-day Kindergarten. This will be our district's first year having full-day. What do I do to get ready? Any books you would suggest? Schedule? Classroom Management? Skills? Aiyiyi! Excited, but nervous!
Flacka Take a deep breath, it will be very different than teaching the intermediate grades but it will be a nice change. When you get them in 3rd and 4th grade they are already pretty independent and know the drill but it's the K teacher than teaches them the "drill".

DonnaR/CA Flacka has given you some good ideas, and she's right on. I am just finishing up my first year in Kinder (after 10 years in music), and find that I've been through all of this.

kaitlin A good "How to Teach the Alphabet" workbook is Super Seatwork - Letter Recognition, by Mary Pecci. You may also like the workbooks, Color Words and Number Words. It keeps them busy and learning while you're busy planning the next step. You can check these out on OnlineReadingTeacher.com.
