I am a first year teacher in 3rd grade and my class is getting ready to take our state testing. I always assumed that you test and work hard all morning, and then relax and have fun in the afternoons. Apparently, I was wrong. We are supposed to continue with normal instruction after testing. This seems crazy to me! Any schools I've been at as a sub or thinking back to my standardized testing we got a break in the afternoons. I know they will burn out very quickly if we try to work them that hard and not try their best on the test. We have 8 days of testing, which is also a lot for third graders. This is the FIRST time they've taken a standerdized test, period.

Anyways, I'm looking for some fun things to do that work on the reading and math concepts that will be on the test. I have centers and a couple games but any new suggestions would be great. My classroom is normally very structured and quiet, so any group activities would fun for them. Especially if I can let go and let ...See More
Leah You may be able to adapt some of the following games to what is on the next test. I can't believe the children are being tested for eight days!
