Is it okay for a teacher to pick students to be in her class, then call them about being in our elementary class. Does not seem fair to teachers or students in that school...

Judy2/CA I'm not sure I understand your post. Are you saying that one teacher picks the students who will be in her class? How the other classes formed? After picking the students the teacher then calls the families of each child to let them know the child will be in her class? Stellaluna Sara, are you a student? you may have misunderstood the situation. It is likely the classes were made in a fair manner and then this teacher chose to contact the students and let them know as a personal choice. Some teachers I work with send postcards etc. to welcome their students, some call, and some wait for the first day of school.
