We used to have 2 music teachers and met with our choir every other day. Now I am the only teacher for 865 students who see me only once a week and choir meets before school. I was planning a program with 9 songs and am beginning to realize that this may have been too ambitious. Fourth and 5th grades meet separately once a week for what ends up being half an hour by the time everyone arrives. I have planned on 3 everyone songs, two 4th grade and two 5th grade songs plus one only boy song and one only girl. What do you typically do for a program? I decided to eliminate one song from both grade levels, but feel like I am gypping them somehow.
Mrs H This has happened to me before, too, when I programmed too much music but they didn't accomplish what I had hoped. I think it's perfectly okay to cut back, especially because your time and resources are not what they once were. I put it back on me with the kids, too.
